"I have lived in Nebraska since January 1971, graduating that May from Plattsmouth High School. I started surveying under the County Surveyor in March 1972. I was registered as a Nebraska Land Surveyor in February 1983. The position was vacated in November 1984 and I was appointed, by the County Commissioners as the County Surveyor in January 1985 to fill the unexpired term. I was elected by the people to continue as County Surveyor in 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022."

ABOUT THIS OFFICE

The office is responsible for the filing of surveys performed within Cass County. To maintain records and up-keep of the Section Corners set on the Original Government Survey, (1855-1857). That process includes perpetuating corners that might be destroyed through road construction and overlay projects. Directional ties to existing topographic features are obtained and recorded for easier access to finding the corner for future use.

  • Field Surveys of individual parcels, (if a survey has been performed since 1855-present)

  • Subdivision plats
  • Topographic maps (7.5 minute Quadrangles)

FACTS & FIGURES

  • Maintain and Upkeep records for over 1,793 Government Corners and hundreds of other sectional subdivision corners
  • Maintain and file Surveys for 200 - performed annually
  • Trimble GPS and Electronic Distance Meter used for precision quality measurements
  • License and Registration with the State of Nebraska is a requirement
